At Sure Step, we offer our signature middle leaders program for those looking to develop the full range of leadership skills, including 360 ° review and leadership styles assessments.  For those looking for something more targeted, we offer bespoke short courses for professional development.

Step Up - Our Middle Leaders Program.

Step Up is our 6-month program designed for those moving into, or already in, a middle leadership role within a school. You are paired with a mentor who has experience as a leader in education for 121 support throughout your program. 


At the commencement of the program, we lay a foundation by understanding your current leadership style and conducting a 360°  review.  You will then move on to 5 core modules that include:


  • Resolving Conflict Before it Boils Over
  • Leadership Styles and Influence
  • Laying the Foundations for Team Culture
  • Navigating the Transition: Peer to Leader
  • Managing Performance with Confidence and Clarity


Using the knowledge gained from your program and the guidance of your mentor, you will be supported to develop a mini strategic plan for your team that aligns with your school’s broader goals. You'll learn how to apply your new skills to delegate effectively, influence others, and grow a cohesive team with a shared vision and clear direction for success.  You will receive your certificates as we celebrate the end of the program together, reflecting on what you have achieved.


This program is available to schools on an ad hoc basis or to individuals through one of our two intakes in July and January.

Step 1

We start the program by introducing you to your mentor, completing a 360 ° review for a solid foundation to the program.

Step 2

Step 2: Completing your next 121 with your mentor and completing our 5 workshops and assessments.

Step 3

Step 3 is the third 121 with your mentor and development of your team's mini strategic plan to align with the school's overall strategic plan.

Step 4

Step 4 is the final 121 with your mentor, the end-of-program  celebration and your certification for completing the course

  • WHO DESIGNED THE TRAINING

    Our Australian training courses were designed by Sasha Large and tested out with several school leaders to refine and develop the content to support leaders to navigate today's common school leadership challenges.

  • ARE YOU QUALIFIED TO TRAIN OUR TEAM

    Yes.  Our school leadership development team have all been leaders in education themselves, either in a Principal or Deputy position. They all hold enhanced degree qualifications, with Sasha also holding a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in the Lifelong Learning Sector, allowing her to teach adult learners and oversee the rest of the teaching team.

  • WHAT TYPE OF RECRUITMENT DO YOU DO

    We offer bespoke recruitment through headhunting and skills alignment.  We do not offer high-throughput database matching services. Although we do have our own database, we do not believe in matching resumes to roles. Instead, we will actively hunt for the correct talent you require.  We support candidates even if they are applying for roles directly if we do not have a current role that we feel they would be suitable for.  

  • WHAT IS A LEADERSHIP ROLE

    We support all leadership roles from middle leaders such as heads of department through to Principals and School group CEOs.  We also support school administration roles such as marketing and business administration roles.

  • WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP RETREATS

    Our school leadership retreats can be added to our school leaders program to consolidate learning from the program. Or as a separate event to support the creation of your school or team strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the overall school vision to foster a culture of intentional leadership.
