STEP UP - OUR MIDDLE LEADERS PROGRAM

Step Up - Our Middle Leaders Program.

Step Up is our specialised program designed for those moving into, or already in, a middle leadership role within a school. You are paired with a mentor who has experience as a leader in education for 121 support throughout your program. 


At the commencement of the program, we lay a foundation by understanding your current leadership style and conducting a 360°  review.  You will then move on to 5 core modules that include:


  • Navigating the Transition: Peer to Leader
  • Leadership Styles and Influence
  • Laying the Foundations for Team Culture
  • Resolving Conflict Before it Boils Over
  • Managing Performance with Confidence and Clarity


Using the knowledge gained from your program and the guidance of your mentor, you will be supported to develop a mini strategic plan for your team that aligns with your school’s broader goals. You'll learn how to apply your new skills to delegate effectively, influence others, and grow a cohesive team with a shared vision and clear direction for success.  You will receive your certificates as we celebrate the end of the program together, reflecting on what you have achieved.

Step 1 - Assess

The journey begins with self-awareness. Each participant completes a 360° leadership assessment and a Workplace Personality Inventory (WPI-II), providing insight into your strengths, challenges, and leadership style. These tools lay the foundation for intentional growth and goal setting.

Step 2 - Mentor

Engage in a one-to-one mentoring session. This stage supports reflection on assessment results and helps leaders identify personal development goals and strategies for the program ahead.

Step 3 - Learn

Participants attend five skill-building workshops chosen from our leadership series. These practical, scenario-based sessions equip leaders with the tools to lead people, navigate challenges, and align with school priorities.

Step 4 - Develop

Pause to reflect, recalibrate, and deepen their learning. A second 1:1 mentoring session supports you to apply new insights, troubleshoot real-time challenges, and plan the next stage of you growth journey.

Step 5 - Implement

In this session, you will create a mini strategic plan aligned to school goals, identifying clear actions that you will lead within your team context, bridging the gap between leadership theory and operational impact.

Step 6 - Recognise

The program concludes with a leadership celebration. It’s an opportunity to celebrate growth, reinforce confidence, and build momentum for future leadership steps.

  • Laying the Foundations for Team Culture

    Learn the core skills needed to manage teams effectively, including delegation, performance management, and problem-solving. This module equips leaders with practical strategies to drive efficiency and productivity.

  • Resolving Conflict Before it Boils Over

    Practical strategies to handle tension and disagreement confidently, before they become major issues. This focused 90-minute workshop equips middle and senior school leaders with the tools to manage conflict with clarity, compassion, and control. 

  • Managing Performance with Confidence and Clarity

    Transform everyday conversations into opportunities for growth, clarity, and improved performance. This workshop equips school leaders with simple, effective strategies to guide performance conversations that motivate staff, address challenges early, and foster professional development — without the stress or awkwardness.
